Things That Influence A Child’s Intelligence
A child’s development majorly depends on what they learn in their first two years. There will be things that will help them and then those which will demotivate learning and disrupt the child’s brain development process.
With the correct methods, parents can help a child grow and learn more about things in their surroundings. But some things will influence a child’s intelligence in the womb and the developmental stages after birth.
Developmental Stages
Though many people think their child will not be affected by what the mother goes through, it is majorly wrong. Whatever the mother goes through will affect the child. The mother should have a stable environment around her and should not be stressed. The mother should provide proper nutrition throughout the pregnancy to ensure the child is not suffering from malnutrition.
Since the child is affected by what the mother consumes, they should not intake substances such as tobacco, alcohol, or any other drug to harm themselves. Even though the amniotic fluid inside the mother keeps the child safe and free of sudden movement, the mother should still be careful of extreme physical activities.
Physical Strength
A child should have the physical strength to be intelligent. They do not have to be born with muscles right from the womb but should be given proper care to ensure they grow healthy and have appropriate bodily functions.
The child should also not be exposed to extreme conditions which may hurt them physically since significant blows to the brain can affect brain development and intelligence.
External Environment
Once the child is born, they have genes that determine how smart they initially may be. However, the best thing about having a brain is that it grows with time and stimulation. And a child’s brain is easily molded into a more responsive and intelligent one.
The parent can use books such as Your Baby’s Brain, Intellect, And You by Saied H. Jacobs, which explains detailed activities you can perform with your child to spark brain activity. This helps the child grow and develop more intellect with time.
Since there have been studies on how a person continues to learn throughout their life, a child can learn how to develop better-thinking processes and intellect. There is nothing wrong with a child being a slow learner as long as their early development is stimulating enough.
